5 Top Issues Why Car Air Conditioning Is Not Working A car’s air conditioning system has many components, such as compressors, condensers, Dryers, Valves, and Many pipes that contain o-rings, etc. So much can go wrong with these Items Listed, but what are the 5 Top problems you can have with your car’s air conditioning system?

1. You have an AC System leak –
- This is the number one cause of car air conditioning problems. The aircon system uses a refrigerant, Tetrafluoroethylene, or R134a, or HFO-1234yf. Vehicles from 2016 onwards changed form as the pressure changed within the system from gas to liquid and then back again. This AC Gas can leak out. When it does, you no longer get cold air, so have the car’s AC system checked for leaks, specifically looking at the condenser, or aircon radiator, as sometimes known as this is often the cause of a leak.
- It is based right at the front of the car in front of the water radiator so it takes all the damage, such as stone chips and debris etc. Also check the pipework, the compressor seals (any seal in fact), A good Qualified car Air Conditioning engineer will add a UV dye to the system, so you can physically see where a leak is coming from and be in a position to fix the issue at hand.

2. Compressor Fault –
-
The air conditioning compressor, sometimes called the A/C pump, pushes the refrigerant around the system. It may not be working or have seized. For example, it can wear out; if it is not used regularly or does not have oil circulating around the pump, it can damage components inside the AC pump. So, get this checked out, too. Often, due to a lack of use or running the A/C without refrigerant, the internal mechanisms can dry and burn out, causing compressor failure.
-
3, Air Con Pressure Switch –
- The pressure switch tells the compressor whether to Turn On or not. If there is not enough AC refrigerant in the system, it tells the compressor not to work. This switch could be faulty or broken.
-
4, Air Conditioning Fan –
- The car air conditioning fan at the front of the car that sits in front of the AC Compressor can sometimes seize, which means it’s not cooling the air con condenser as well, and consequently, you don’t get cold air coming through the ventilation System.

Common Issues of Car Air Con Repairs
-
5. A Fuse or Relay–
-
Sometimes it’s often the simplest of things, so check the fuses for the Aircon System. It may just be blown, and you only need a new fuse fitted. Also, check for non-working relays, another common problem.
If you’re unsure, call the experts at Car Service Centre Reading. We will happily fix your car’s Air conditioning system and explain in detail what was wrong so that you can better understand how it works.
We can also service your vehicle’s Air Conditioning System. Sometimes you can get bad odors inside your vehicle. This generally happens if you have a blocked ventilation System, also Dirty or Old Pollen Filters that are not changed on Vehicle service intervals,,
Why is my AC running but not cooling inside my car?
To rid your Vehicle of Bad odors, once the ventilation system is cleaned and filters replaced, we start your vehicle, close all windows and doors, and deactivate Air-Con Cleaning Bpmbs. This will circulate around your ventilation system, removing all bad odors and leaving your vehicle fresh and smelling nice.
